Echo River Ranch

Trail Guide for Hire

Riders supplying their own horse are welcome to join us on most of our trail rides.

We can also meet riders with their own horses at any of the many local trailheads and guide them over the trails.

And if your riding group needs an extra horse, we can rent you a horse and ride along with your group. Note that all riding must be done at a walk and other ranch rules and requirements will also apply.

Trail Guide Goals

Our purpose in offering guide services to other riders is to make new friends. It is also our hope that they will then advertise our reliability and thus recommend our ranch and services.

Our experience on the trails and our knowledge of the various trailheads is invaluable in familiarizing other riders with the trail systems and in identifying ideal view points or trouble spots.

For safety purposes, a rider should never ride alone. We always guide on a well mannered and steadfast horse that will set a good example for other horses. We can also help in training young (or other) horses by ponying, etc. when necessary.

Trail Guide Process

Like our own trail rides, all guiding is done at a walk, absolutely no running.

In an effort to familiarize riders with the trail, the guide will:
- determine appropriate trail routes;
- point out signposts, markers, and landmarks to help orient riders;
- share knowledge of alternative routes and trail lengths for future reference;
- assist riders with their horses when necessary;
- and monitor condition of riders and their horses abilities to work the trail.

We love to explore new locations and we are open to suggestions or recommendations. Even our familiar trails can be closed or blocked at times. Note that we will only explore if there are experienced riders accompanying us.

Feel free to contact us and schedule a ride or discuss your riding needs.

Trail Guide Fees

We hope to keep our fees reasonable. Please remember that there is both a cost to transport and feed our animals, as well as, our time spent to scout and guide the trails.

We always appreciate donations of cash, horse feed, and needed farm merchandise; note that we do not accept donations of anything that we will have to feed.          Click here to go to our Wish List.

Horse owners may ’haul in’ their own horses and ride the trails out of the ranch. Guiding of ’haul in’ riders is free on ranch trails only. The trail guide will graciously accept tips or donations for the ranch.
A participation fee is required if ’haul in’ riders are participating in a ranch sponsored
specialty ride. ’Haul in’ participation is not allowed on ranch sponsored experience
rides (i.e. mushroom & berry picking).
