Chore List
For such a small farm, there are a lot of things that need to be done. And there never seems to be enough hours in the day to do it all. Plus the weather here in our little valley is always making more work by blowing down limbs and trees, etc.
So we have set up this chore list of things that need to be done in hopes that we find persons able to help. In exchange, we are willing to barter an hour of local horseback riding for every two hours of completed chore labor.
Chore List & Other Things That Need To Be Done Around The Ranch
Chores that require high skill level and/or power equipment:
- chainsaw larger trees out of local trails;
- digging post holes for new fence line & stretching new fence
wire;
- drilling bolt holes in cross posts to repair fence line;
- framing and building new decks;
- replacing/fixing dry rot;
- drilling hinge holes and hanging gates; and
- building floor boxes for the leantos & stall entrances.
Chores that require medium skill level and/or strength:
- pulling noxious tansy plants from property;
- pulling thistle plants from property;
- cleaning roof gutters;
- repairing downspouts;
- painting;
- restretching sagging fences and fixing fallen cross boards;
- filling potholes in the driveway/road;
- putting gravel on muddy areas at the gates; and
- brushing trail with loppers and pruners.
Chores that require low skill level (easy for younger kids):
- weeding the vegetable garden;
- weeding the flower pots and garden boxes;
- pulling buttercup, daisy, & foxglove plants from property;
- picking up smaller limbs and sticks out of yard and pastures;
- picking rocks out of pens and pasture; and
- picking up blown garbage and trash from waterline.
