Echo River Ranch

Confidence Lessons

~ this service is no longer available ~

All lessons have been cancelled due to client and instructor boredom from the horse going around and around and around and around in circles.

Riders can easily learn basic riding skills during any guided trail ride where the scenery is both more beautiful and more challenging.

Click here for more information on our Guided Trail Rides.

Our lessons are designed to build confidence in the beginning rider.

Most importantly, we provide a well mannered horse and create a comfortable environment for riders to enjoy the experience of communicating with the horse.

We will never force a fearful child to get on a horse.

Lesson Goals

~ this service is no longer available ~

Riders will learn how to communicate with the horse.

Riders will be able to confidently start, stop, back, and turn a horse.

Note that these same skills can be learned on our beginner trail rides, but with lessons, the rider will have a trainer working with them one-on-one from the ground.

Lesson Methods

~ this service is no longer available ~

All riding is done at a walk and only one person at a time is allowed on the horse. All lessons are private, one on one; there are no group lessons.

Lessons are taught in a paddock and progress to a pasture area. We do not have a covered arena.

Lead line, the instructor holds a rope attached to the horse, is available for all insecure riders. Riders under the age of 6 must start out on a lead line until they are skilled enough to ride alone.

Riders under the age of 18 must wear a helmet. We ride rain or shine; riders should dress appropriately for all weather.
