The little stream that Debie remembered, crossed under the road; that is were everyone had watered on the way down the road. That water hole was a long ways off, closer to camp than to were she was. About the time Debie decided to start another message to Dena, she heard running water, just before the turn off to Sleeping Beauty. She turned up the road and forced a way to get herself and Snickers down to the water, it was very cold and refreshing. She had waited only about 10 minutes when she heard Dena coming down the road. Dena was relieved to see her and also to get some water. They rested a short while before they all continued on.

The mileage marker just below the camp said 13, but it sure seemed twice that. Debie and Dena began whistling as they approached camp. They discovered that Kesi and Kiki had come in only a short time before them. Much to their relief, they had also found Kee-a-wali. That morning Kiki and Kesi had both put on white riding breeches, they were both black from riding bareback. Everyone was tired and dirty, except Pam who was just relieved to have everyone back safely at camp.

Pam had seen some riders go by on the trail, but when questioned, they hadn’t seen any sign of loose horses or people trying to catch them Debie decided to scout for a warmer camp area, so she left Pam in charge of getting some fluids down the others whom she feared may have gotten mild heat stroke. As she was to leave, Echo got a bit upset about Britt leaving and got himself a rope burn.

Jennie also got the rope around her leg and burned it as well. All the horses had to be tied now, they could not be trusted. Yet they were tied where wonderfully large wild strawberries were growing, so moving and retrieving them was a pleasant eating experience.

Debie rode the trail for the equivalent of an hours ride. Most of the trail was forest with a couple of road crossings. At about an hour out there was a small one foot wide stream with watering possibilities but the horses would have no grass. On the way back, about a 15 minute shorter ride, was a larger stream with soft banks and a super camp area with a fire pit and bences, etc., but still no grazing area. Debie headed down the road on her way back because the night before a meadow could be seen from their camp on the ill. According to the map, the area was called Swampy Meadows ant that’s exactly what she found, swampy meadows, it even had ducks.
